Hi peeps,
How u r doing? Just two more days to go for the year 2011 to end and towards the end of this year i am doing a bit of recycling and also making a tutorial on it.
So friends, I recycled a shoe box into a jewellery box. I took a spare shoe box-
Take the lid of the box and remove all staplers from it .Now cut left and right portions of lid into half circle (D shape) as shown-
Take a thin sheet of thermocol ,larger in size than lid, approx 2-3cm larger.
Paste it on lid of cardboard in dome shape and it will take time as this is the toughest part..

So friends, I recycled a shoe box into a jewellery box. I took a spare shoe box-
Paste it on lid of cardboard in dome shape and it will take time as this is the toughest part..
Now stick D shaped part of the lid to thermocol and to make it easier a cut a D shaped thermocol piece .Refer this pic, it will make it more clear-
So lid of the jewellery box is ready.
Take a spare piece of cloth and cover shoe box's lower part and above prepared lid with it.Cloth will adhere the lower part and lid tightly.
So this way you can recycle old/waste cloth pieces also.
Now decorate the box as you like.I used glitter paper for inner part and strips on outer part.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a jewellery chest from the famous fables we used to watch as a kid...
I guess the toughest part is turning the thermocol sheet as it cracks ..how did you manage this ? its truly an accomplishment, not many can dream to achieve. :)
This is beautiful -- must have been tricky to curve the thermocol into a dome shape without cracking it too much!
